70 years ago, the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation who made up the Chinese People’s Volunteers, shouldering the mission entrusted by the people and bearing in mind their expectation, marched gallantly across the Yalu River, resolved to uphold justice and peace and resist aggression. With great patriotism and revolutionary heroism and together with the Korean people and troops, they fought dauntlessly for two years and nine months on the bloodstained battlefields and won the great victory in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. 2. 抗美援朝战争伟大胜利，将永远铭刻在中华民族的史册上！永远铭刻在人类和平、发展、进步的史册上！ The great victory of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea will go down in the annals of the history of the Chinese nation and the history of humanity’s pursuit for peace, development and advancement. 3. 我们始终没有忘记谱写了气壮山河英雄赞歌的中国人民志愿军将士，以及所有为这场战争胜利作出贡献的人们。 We have never forgotten the Chinese People’s Volunteers whose soul stirring gallantry has become the pride of the nation and all those who contributed to the victory of this war. 4. 烈士们的功绩彪炳千秋，烈士们的英名万古流芳！ All our fallen heroes will forever be remembered by history, and their names will remain a source of inspiration for future generations. 5. 近代以后，中国人民饱受列强侵略之害、饱经战火蹂躏之苦，更是深深懂得战争的残酷、和平的宝贵。 When the modern times began in China, we Chinese once endured untold sufferings from the aggression of imperialist powers and the scourge of war and turbulence. And we are acutely aware how cruel war can be and how precious peace is. 6. 抗美援朝战争，是在交战双方力量极其悬殊条件下进行的一场现代化战争。 The War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea was a modernized war fought between two parties with extreme disparity in strength. 7. 全国各族人民举国同心支撑起这场事关国家和民族前途命运的伟大抗争，最终用伟大胜利向世界宣告“西方侵略者几百年来只要在东方一个海岸上架起几尊大炮就可霸占一个国家的时代是一去不复返了”！ All of our people across China closed ranks and supported this great war of resistance which was crucial for the future of the Chinese nation. With final victory, we sent this message to the whole world loud and clear: The days were over when invaders from the West could occupy a country in the East simply by putting several cannons on its coast, as they had done for several hundred years. 8. 经此一战，中国人民粉碎了侵略者陈兵国门、进而将新中国扼杀在摇篮之中的图谋，可谓“打得一拳开，免得百拳来”。 By winning this war, we Chinese smashed the aggressors’ plot to mass troops at our doorsteps to blockade China and nip the new People’s Republic in the bud. We knew we must win this war, so that no one would ever try to impose a war on us again! 9. 经此一战，中国人民彻底扫除了近代以来任人宰割、仰人鼻息的百年耻辱，彻底扔掉了“东亚病夫”的帽子，中国人民真正扬眉吐气了。这一战，打出了中国人民的精气神，充分展示了中国人民万众一心的顽强品格！ By winning this war, we Chinese ended the one hundred year humiliation our nation had suffered since its modern times began, when we were at the mercy of others like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. We held our heads high, and no one would dare to regard China as the “sick man of Asia”. This war fully demonstrated the valor, unyielding spirit and great solidarity of the Chinese nation. 10. 经此一战，中国人民打败了侵略者，震动了全世界，奠定了新中国在亚洲和国际事务中的重要地位，彰显了新中国的大国地位。这一战，让全世界对中国刮目相看， By fighting this war, we Chinese defeated aggressors, a feat that shook the world. This war established China’s important position in both Asian and international affairs as well as its position as a major country. This war completely changed the way in which the world saw China. 11. 在波澜壮阔的抗美援朝战争中，英雄的中国人民志愿军始终发扬祖国和人民利益高于一切、为了祖国和民族的尊严而奋不顾身的爱国主义精神，英勇顽强、舍生忘死的革命英雄主义精神，不畏艰难困苦、始终保持高昂士气的革命乐观主义精神，为完成祖国和人民赋予的使命、慷慨奉献自己一切的革命忠诚精神，为了人类和平与正义事业而奋斗的国际主义精神，锻造了伟大抗美援朝精神。 By fighting this great war to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, the valiant Chinese People’s Volunteers forged a great spirit. It is patriotism which placed the interests of the motherland and the people above all else and inspired the Chinese People’s Volunteers to risk their lives to defend the dignity of the Chinese nation. It is revolutionary heroism with which they fought tenaciously and fearlessly. It is revolutionary optimism which enabled them to maintain a high morale and defy formidable difficulties. It is loyalty to revolution with which the Chinese People’s Volunteers gave their lives to fulfill the mission entrusted to them by the motherland and the people. And it is internationalism with which they fought for peace and justice for all humanity. 12. 无论时代如何发展，我们都要砥砺不畏强暴、反抗强权的民族风骨。70年前，帝国主义侵略者将战火烧到了新中国的家门口。中国人民深知，对待侵略者，就得用他们听得懂的语言同他们对话，这就是以战止战、以武止戈，用胜利赢得和平、赢得尊重。中国人民不惹事也不怕事，在任何困难和风险面前，腿肚子不会抖，腰杆子不会弯，中华民族是吓不倒、压不垮的！ No matter how the times may evolve, we must maintain the indomitable will of our nation which enables us to defy intimidation and strike back against aggression. Seven decades ago, the imperialist aggressors pushed the war right to the doorsteps of New China. As Chinese, we knew that the only way to react to aggressors was to talk in a way they understood. And that was to fight the war to end it and gain peace and respect through victory. We will not make provocations against others, but neither will we yield to provocation. Whatever challenges or risks we face, our legs will not tremble, and our spines will not bend. The Chinese nation will never succumb to blackmail or sheer pressure. 13. 无论时代如何发展，我们都要汇聚万众一心、勠力同心的民族力量。在抗美援朝战争中，中国人民在爱国主义旗帜感召下，同仇敌忾、同心协力，让世界见证了蕴含在中国人民之中的磅礴力量，让世界知道了“现在中国人民已经组织起来了，是惹不得的。如果惹翻了，是不好办的”！ No matter how the times may evolve, we must galvanize the whole nation and create a powerful strength. In the War to Resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, inspired by patriotism, we Chinese closed ranks to fight the enemy and made the world see our formidable strength. The world came to realize that “the Chinese people are now organized and that they are not to be provoked. If they are provoked to anger, they will make the provocateur pay costly.” 14. 无论时代如何发展，我们都要锻造舍生忘死、向死而生的民族血性。在朝鲜战场上，志愿军将士面对强大而凶狠的作战对手，身处恶劣而残酷的战场环境，抛头颅、洒热血，以“钢少气多”力克“钢多气少”，谱写了惊天地、泣鬼神的雄壮史诗。 No matter how the times may evolve, we must foster the valor of our nation, one of fighting without fear of death to win victory. On the Korean battlefield, the Chinese People’s Volunteers, shedding blood and giving their lives, fought a powerful and ferocious enemy under brutal conditions. Poor in weaponry but high in morale, they beat the enemy with superior firing power, writing a heart stirring epic. 15. 这种血性令敌人胆寒，让天地动容！ Such is the valor that stunned the enemy and moved the people. 16. 它用铁一般的事实告诉世人，任何一个国家、任何一支军队，不论多么强大，如果站在世界发展潮流的对立面，恃强凌弱、倒行逆施、侵略扩张，必然会碰得头破血流。 The War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea drove home this undeniable fact: No matter how strong a country or an army is, if it goes against the trend of the times, bullies the weak, tries to turn back the tide of history and commits aggression and expansion, it is bound to end up in total failure. 17. 伟大抗美援朝精神跨越时空、历久弥新，必须永续传承、世代发扬。 The heroism of all those who fought in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea will transcend time and space. It will remain an inexhaustible source of strength that will inspire us from generation to generation. 18. 无论时代如何发展，我们都要激发守正创新、奋勇向前的民族智慧。勇于创新者进，善于创造者胜。 No matter how times may evolve, we as a nation should have the vision to steer the right course, forge ahead and open new horizon. Those who endeavor to break new ground will advance and win. 19. 面对来自各方面的风险挑战，面对各种阻力压力，中国人民总能逢山开路、遇水架桥，总能展现大智大勇、锐意开拓进取，“杀出一条血路”！ In the face of challenges from all quarters and all kinds of pressure and obstacles, we Chinese will act with the vision and resolve and keep advancing, like cutting a road across mountains and building a bridge across the river no matter how treacherous the terrain is. And we can always fight our way out. 20. 中华民族迎来了从站起来、富起来到强起来的伟大飞跃。 We the Chinese nation have achieved a great transformation: We have stood up, become prosperous and grown in strength. 21. 今天，我们正站在实现“两个一百年”奋斗目标的历史交汇点上，全面建成小康社会胜利在望，全面建设社会主义现代化国家前景光明。 Today, we have reached a pivotal point in history of meeting the two centenary goals. The building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects will be finished; and the prospects are bright for building China into a all-round modernized socialist country. 22. 我们决不会坐视国家主权、安全、发展利益受损，决不会允许任何人任何势力侵犯和分裂祖国的神圣领土。一旦发生这样的严重情况，中国人民必将予以迎头痛击！ We will never allow our sovereignty, security and development interests to be compromised, nor will we allow anyone or any force to invade or split the sacred territory of China. Should such a grave development emerge, China will respond to it with full force! 23. 世界是各国人民的世界，世界面临的困难和挑战需要各国人民同舟共济、携手应对，和平发展、合作共赢才是人间正道。当今世界，任何单边主义、保护主义、极端利己主义，都是根本行不通的！任何讹诈、封锁、极限施压的方式，都是根本行不通的！任何我行我素、唯我独尊的行径，任何搞霸权、霸道、霸凌的行径，都是根本行不通的！不仅根本行不通，最终必然是死路一条！ Our world belongs to people of all countries. The difficulties and challenges facing the world can only be resolved when all people join force and pull together. Only peace, development and win-win cooperation are the right way forward for humanity. In today’s world, no acts of unilateralism, protectionism and pursuing extreme self-interest will ever succeed. No attempts of blackmail, blockade and exerting extreme pressure will ever succeed. No acts of pursuing one’s own way with no regard for others, and no acts of hegomonism or bullying will ever succeed. Such acts will not succeed; if any thing, they are doomed to failure. 24. 落后就要挨打，发展才能自强。 Lagging behind leaves one vulnerable to attack, while only development enables one to grow in strength. 25. 中华民族历来秉持“亲仁善邻”的理念。 We the Chinese nation have always valued friendship and amity with our neighbors.
